I’ve been trying to figure out how the switches work on my regency too and i posted about it a while back. someone explained about how it could be wired to the ground so once it’s shorted the thing will die. it could be that when you press the brakes the circuit isn’t complete and so your plug doesn’t get the juice. maybe you’re using the wring kind of brake light switches? I’m really not too familiar with it but that’s something. also i’ve found a M56 wiring diagram out on the internet before, it’s hidden in some guys random moped repair page. I can’t find it but if you search you’ll eventually come up on it.
