I have had a number of old Hondas mostly the smaller ones. Heck I am looking at a CA200 90cc model at the moment. I need to finish my Garelli first. With all older Hondas they will run without the battery but will not run well. So if you look for a spark it will be best with a good battery. I am sure you will check that it shifts smooth and that all gears work, compression and free rotation of all parts. If the man will let you check the oil in the engine it will tell you a lot. Old nasty oil means he did not take care if it. You need to change the old very often in the older Hondas, with out oil filters. If not it will wear out the engine faster. Wiring can be repaired but it is best not to have to. A botched up wiring harness can be a huge problem. Parts missing… you judge the worth.
Bottom line here is that a Honda is a fantastic engine if taken care of. They last forever! There are some very cool kitted Honda 50cc set through bikes. See attachment. This guy wanted $1000.00 for it and I fet it was way to much even with the kitting.
