that is the ground for the ignition coil. If you take off the flywheel and look inside the coil you will see a wire soldered on the right side of your ignition coil that trails out a hole in the back of the stator/magneto. That’s the ground for your coil and it’s very important that it’s, well.. grounded! Like someone else said, it is attached to another black cable, which would be male, as the one coming out of your magneto is female.

I believe your bike shouldn’t idle or even start if it’s not grounded. If for some reason the male end that grounds the wire is disconnected or gone or something you can make a different connection from that female end and bolt it to a hole in the frame (like on the swingarm for instance). I went to the store and got an electrical connector with a male end to fit into the ground cable and a circular fix, so I can put a bolt through it and anchor to the frame. I can take a photo if you’re stumped.
