I’m more familiar with the M48, but I took a look at a picture of the M56 magneto, and saw that it has only two coils, one for the ignition and one for all the lighting, compared to the separate coils for brake, headlight, and tail light on the M48.
However, the lighting is still separate from the ignition, so your problem is really weird, unless there’s a wire connected somewhere it shouldn’t be.
Are you sure the brake light is killing the engine? Could the clutch be sticking, so that whenever you come to a stop, the engine dies? This is not uncommon on Batavus clutches.
Try this – Put the bike on it’s stand and start the engine, and give it some revs. As it’s running, apply the FRONT brake only, and see if it kills the engine. If not, it’s probably not the brake light circuit.
Then let it idle and see if the rear wheel keeps spinning. It should stop. If not, apply the REAR brake and see if the engine is stopped, too. If so, your clutch is sticking.
