pinging means you’re pre-igniting. basically, your plug is too hot and the gas explodes before spark. It can be as simple as running a colder plug. go to a (NGK) b7hs or b8hs and see if your problems are solved.
also, retard your timing just a little, not advance. advance will make your gas combust sooner, which slaps the piston against the cylinder wall, giving the knocking/pinging sound. advanced timing also runs hotter.
