to test that you are getting the 12 volts to the coil.

go to radio shack get a 12 volt led indicator as below.and some clip leads

now open the conn from the kill sw to the coil.
and conn the red test lead to the coil end.

with the black lead on a clean place on the motor and the red to the coil.
if you just turn the mag fast by hand with no plug in motor the led will
flash. if it will not then check the points or remove the wire on the
cap to see if it’s shorted. when there is power to the coil. if no
spark at plug then move the black lead to one of the clean screws that
mount the coil to the bike frame if led still flashes then you have
just checked the wire from the motor to the coil. if no flash then you
have a bad ground.

now we know that we have tested 12 volts to the coil lets test the
hv side of the coil.

the cable may be removed from the coil by twisting off the end cap

now taking a soda straw and tinfoil 1 1/2 wide by 4 3/4 long

now wrap foil around the straw

and crimp end of foil.

now slide straw into coil about 1 inch.

the space from foil to motor must be 1/4 inch.

if the coil is ok the spark will jump from foil to motor.
if it does but you had no spark before. then
you have 1 bad plug. 2 bad plug cap. or 3 bad wire.

you can use a 14 mm socket on a drill to turn the clutch side ccw.
remember mag side cw cluch side ccw. test will not work in wrong dir.
