There should be a spring looking thing that connects to the valve pin on the outside.

As far as throttle and choke. Throttle enters the top of the carb – into the big hole right above the jet and controls the slide(take the cap off and you will see what I mean). Choke can enter from the top or bottom of the smaller hole depending on your setup. Search “gutner carb” in this forum and there are a bunch of pictures of my setup (from the bottom) and some one else which if from the top, either will work. Look at the pictures see if they make sense, let me know if youve got more questions.
