puch maxi - loose throttle cable

i searched but didn’t really come across an answer. i am trying to figure out if i need a new cable or not. i was just installing a biturbo and upjetting…then i put the carb back together and go to start it, only i notice that the throttle is turning way to easily and there is a ton of slack up there. it was fine before all this.

if i pull on the cable i don’t feel the give of the spring in the carb. but i can see the cable moving in the casing.

do you think when i put the carb back together the cable came loose from the pin in the carb…..or does it sound like there is something wrong with the cable. it is kind of late, so i stopped for the night and will probably try tomorrow, but any comments/advice on tightening would help.
