Yeah, definitely meet up with your local moped gurus. There’s lots of stuff you can do yourself, but it’s intimidating if you don’t really know what you’re doing. Watching people who know what they’re doing take things apart or helping them take things apart is a great way to learn.

If you’re interested in doing some stuff yourself (or finding out what you’ve gotten yourself into), there are quite a few posts about the wheel bearings on here—just run a search for “wheel bearing.” If they mean one of the engine bearings when they say “main bearing,” you can look here to get some idea of what that’s all about.

Other than that, you probably ought to clean the carb as well.

Fred’s Guide is a great resource, and ditto for the manual.
