Help me get my Puch back on the road! (newbie)

I just purchased a 1977 Puch Maxi that is in need of some work. I am told it needs a new real wheel bearing, and a main bearing. I just kind of leaped into this whole thing not knowing much, and I don’t exactly know where to begin. I would like to fix it myself, rather than take it to someone, but I need someone to show me the ropes. I live in Grand Rapids. Is there anyone who would help?
