With regard to the paint not reacting to gas, you need to use a clear lacquer. I used a high temp clear lacquor made by Krylon, that I bought at the auto parts store in a spray can. It has a nice gloss finish. Enamal paint or clear will be affected by gas, it will etch the paint, I found out the hard way and had to repaint my tank after I originally used enamal gloss black by Krylon…
