qt50 only runs with the choke on???

ive got an 84 qt50 that ran great for a long time. just got it out for the summer and cleaned the carb etc…its got a stock carb with a uni air filter. the bike fires right up everytime with the choke but once its running ill push the choke in and it will just bog down and die. however if i leave the choke on and let it sit there it will idle pretty good for a few mins and then all of the sudden take off and rev up real bad….it seems to only run with the choke on, and die when i push it in, but it ran fine a year or so ago without the choke on, the jets are clean etc….??? need some help from the experts??? thanks!
