O.K. I fixed my stalling problem today. It was variator related, not electrical. This Motobecane had been sitting for many many years before I ressurected it. The variator was “sticking”. It would not disengage at idle. So I took some Brake cleaner in the aerosol can and sprayed into all the openings (slots) in the front of the variator as it ran. Then I kept blowing it out with compressed air. After doing this several times I noticed that it would disegage at idle and would not stall when I applied the rear brake. Repeated this process approximately 10 or so times. Took her for a test ride and everything ran as it should. Thought I would share this information for any other Motobecane owners having the same problem.
