Do you have the spacer collar bewteen the variator and the engine? Part #77 on this exploded parts view. http://zippymopedparts.com/Grande_Engine_copy.jpg

Have you greased the variator rollers?

Did you check the rear hub for gear oil?

Are the inside of the pulley walls rusty?
