1980 yamaha qt-50

just inherited a sweet 1980 yamaha qt-50 scooter and my bonehaed buddy grabbed a line off the carb and said it felt rotted, needless to say gas is coming out of it now and we cannot find the where the damn thing connects from the carb now; I did connect one end back to the carb obviously but does the other end go? yes he is an idiot and I feel even more stupid as we are at a loss….. any suggestions or comments about this little gem would greatly appreciated!
