Well, that is definitely not the way to put it together and you should take it apart and do it the right way. The bearing must first be installed in the stator plate (that’s the plate with the electrics on it). The plate with the bearing is then placed onto the shaft and a special tool is used to draw the plate and the crankshaft together. If you simply hit the plate onto the crankshaft, the crankshaft will bind and will most likely move over and hit into the crankcase side cover. By installing the bearing onto the shaft first and then hitting the plate onto it, you have also moved the bearing further onto the crankshaft than where it should be. Definitely no good all the way around.
Here you can see the special tool for removing and installing the stator plate:

Here, you can see the tool in use:

Here you can print out a manual in English that will show you how to remove and install the stator (steps 11 and 12):

It matters a great deal in which way the connecting rod is installed. The flat side of the crank-pin bearing must face the crankshaft weight. The flat side is the side with the writing on it. The side of the bearing with the rounded lip must face the nut/washer. If you install the rounded lip side towards the crankshaft weight, it will wear a groove in the weight.
