ok. Did that. Now, the next step is that big bearing. When I put it on it didn’t want to go all the way down. So, I just put it on as far as I could by hand, then I placed the next piece on (the plate with all the electrical stuff mounted on it). And, in order to get the bearing to go down I had to use some force. I took a long ratchet head and placed it over the end of the shaft and hit it with a hammer very hard to drive the plate with the electrics (and the bearing underneath) down into place. Eventually it got there, but now it is not as “easy” to turn the crankshaft. It still turns, and the roller can turn separately as it should, but it’s just not that easy. Do you think I screwed something up by banging on it? How the heck are you supposed to get that bearing down? Anyway, it’s too late for me to fix anything now.
One more question about the other side of the crankshaft. The crank arm bearing has a lip on one side – does that lip face out towards the nut or in towards the case? Does it matter which way the crank arm itself goes on (it seems symmetrical)?
Thanks
