that’s pretty much what I did…I broke out the old bulb and wired a 12v halogen car bulb in place…the plastic auto bulb shroud is easy to grind to fit into the original housing (super tight fit, didn’t need JB)

It runs a little dim being a 12 volt, and I have no high beam…but it was an easy/cheap fix and has lasted over 6 months so far.
