I have also noticed the blueing on crank shafts that are working fine. Often times the crankshaft bearings that fit into the case are bad. They should spin quietly. They seem to go bad a lot in two strokes after a lot of use. I have replaced them in my chain saw recently and am in the process of changing them in my EZ-GO golf cart.
