I need a Puch fuel tank

1. Take tank off bike.
2. Take petcock off after ordering new one (can’t hurt)
3. Rinse out tank with water several times.
4. Keep dumping it out upside down to get rid of the big chunks.
5. Fill tank with water and allow to drain out petcock hole. Is it clear? Cool. If not, repeat above.
6. Go to Lowes and buy a gallon of Muriatic acid, a plastic bucket, a funnel, some heavy duty rubber gloves, a cork that fits in the petcock hole, and several boxes of baking soda.
7.Put cork in petcock hole
8. Fill tank halfway with water.
9. Put funnel in and (put on gloves here) pour in about 1/4 gallon of the muriatic acid. (DO NOT BREATHE IN THE VAPORS!! THEY ARE NASTY)
10. Fill it back up to the rim of the tank with some more water but don’t allow it to overflow.
11. Allow it to sit for an hour or so and look at the inside with a flashlight. Look good? Great. If not, let it set longer.
12. Empty contents in to bucket. (wear your gloves!)
13. Rinse out tank with water.
14. Dry out tank quickly with compressed air or a hair dryer.
15. Spray WD-40 in the tank to tide things over until you can fill it back up with gas or (ideally) slosh a bunch of 2-stroke oil around in the tank to coat it so that it doesn’t rust up again. It can flash rust very quickly. Once you fill it with pre-mix you won’t really have to worry about as long as it doesn’t sit with an empty tank.
16. Add the baking soda to the solution in the bucket to neutralize it until it bubbles no more and then you can just dump it and rinse with water.
