someone educate me, theres a rolling frame with a seat in need of a tank and motor locally and i think they look pretty cool. this frame looks like it wants a sachs motor does that sound right? can someone tell me about these? i know my e50s but not much outside of that. also how hard is it to find a tank for one of these?

thanks

None of that made any sense.

1. Do you have a picture?

2. Do you know what model it is?

3. Do you have any idea what you are talking about?

the tanks used to be super available new old stock from handy bikes, but some douchebag in la (or sf? i forget) bought them all so he could bolt them to motorized bicycles and sell them for waaaay too much money. nowadays it’s tough to find them.
generals came with sachs and minarelli motors, so if it says general on the side of it, it’s gunna be one of them.

Could be an Indian too dude, they used Sachs motors and are pretty much the same safe for wheels sometimes and paint. Check the pictures and compare.

They are sick mopeds. Mine just got a new paint job and my friend and I are changing up some performance stuff too… exhaust/intake/carb… can’t wait to ride it again.

Here is what it used to look like:

One of the best looking top tanks ever made I think.
If you can get one, do it.

the frame looks just like the 2 pictures and its the same seat troy has but its got snowflakes. were both the sachs and minarelis stock on these? what would be reasonable prices from a motor and tank for this thing?

thanks again

i love my amsy. the seat is getting recovered before reno rally, for damn sure. and that puch za50 cdi is tits! tits are good, right?

indian did use a lot of the same parts, but i’ve never seen one with a general top tank frame and with a sachs engine.. they had their own horrible 4 stroke push rod engine on one of the prettiest step-thru frames ever

I have a Lazer Sport 50 which is almost exactly the same as a General 5 Star and it’s my favorite moped..

tanks are def harder to come by after that ass cleared out B.J.’s stock of NOS tanks.. but you can still find them..

I would really advise the Minarelli V1 engine (though it could be set up for a sachs).. the V1 is a really solid and torquey engine.. and between treats, ffredie, and mopedEd, you can find all the performance parts for them.. all I ever here about sachs is clutch problems.. I have seen a clean V1 sell for 300 on Ebay but I think that’s a bit much.. keep watch on the B/S forum on here.. good luck

pick it up for 50-80 bucks dude.

just buy it then ill take it off your hands.

i have a tank and a motor but no frame!!

the tank is painted Porsche blue with pearl .. and a black primer base coat so at night it looks black but in the day time it looks navy blue with pearl flake.

but seriously if you dont buy it i will. if its minarelli

personally i prefer the sachs version. there’s one of each in town (at least in the mf) and my sachs destroys the v1.
if you are wanting to kit it and all that jaz, there are more kits and pipes available for the v1, but the sachs kits are pretty good too, and anyone who just bolts on parts off the shelf parts and goes isn’t going to be the fastest around anyway.
and man, seattle is FULL of sachs bikes, and hardly anyone ever has clutch problems. set the thing up right and you’re fine. jeez.
i’ve owned both and i like the sachs better, but everyone’s got their favorite!

ed, the 505 sachs motors use the same electrical as puch za50’s. it’s a direct bolt on. you can also use puch hpi and other cdi’s that will work on za50’s.

to Dean:

I’m not ragging on the sachs, in fact my friend had a G3 and it was the fastest stock ped I’ve ever seen.. V1 was just my first engine and even though I mostly ride an e50 now I just have a special place in my heart for Minarelli’s..

to Ed:
that’s an awesome deal Ed.. I was just talking to Ffredie about exhausts and kits.. think I might order some in a week or two..
