should my pedal clear a proma gp?

i put a proma gp on my maxi and the left pedal hits it by a quarter inch or so. I thought it was supposed to clear the pedal fine. I am also pretty sure that it got dumped a a lot before i bought it. Just checking before i tear it apart for no reason.
