Whats there to do? Cheap places to stay? Places to eat,drink?
Any rides or loaners?

the 8th is our weekly ride. theres plenty of shit to do. check hotels.com or something for cheap places. i dont know about loaners for 3 out of towners. maybe one. look for an anna’s for good burritos

depending on the level of luxury you require a hostel would be a better bet than a hotel. there is one in brookline that is decent (bu used it to house graduate students for orientation) but i can’t remember the name. google could probably tell you. hotels are probably all mad expensive.
you could walk the freedom trail, see the uss constitution, take pictures with the metal make way for ducklings ducks in the boston common, visit the fens late at night, go to a red sox game (if you have the ducats, i recommend finding a scalper a half hour after the game starts, or get a chick to hang around the scalp-free ticket window because i’ve been offered free tickets after the game starts a few times), count how many times you hear drivers shouting obscenities at each other, play the how-many-bmw-x5s-will-i-see-in-the-next-five-minutes game, duck boats are always fun but cost ducats ($40? $50?), eat seafood at legal seafood, walk down newbury street and feel poor no matter even if you are not, and go to a gay club (machine on boylston st i hear is pretty good if you are male). you could play pool at jillian’s across from fenway or go to a sports bar or something too i guess.
OH MAN maybe we could make the wednesday ride on the 8th a tour of boston, that would be great. we can probably find you a loaner, maybe your friends too if they are mopeders. i could fit a small person on the back of my moped if one of you is wee and has high self esteem.
it really depends on your ducats but i love bukowski’s in davis square for food, deep ellum in allston is good but they have a tiny menu (the lunch time grilled cheese is awesome), sunset bar and grill in allston (NOT the cantina on comm ave, this one is on brighton i think, huge plates that are delicious), also t. anthony’s in allston (this is a really bare bones grinder/sub shop type of place), and if it’s hot there’s excellent ice cream at this place in landmark center (corner of boylston and park drive), NOT the cold stone’s, it’s across from cold stone’s, the name is unimportant but it’s tiny and they have good ice cream.
i live in fenway so if you are out that way and are lost give me a hollah.

Yeah you should deffinately try to hit up the sunset bar and grill. Great food with large portions as well as aprx. 150 different types of beer…Prices are reasonable aswell.
Hopefully i’ll be at the ride next week myself.

I really like the cambridge area, check out harvard, central, davis, there are some good bars / restaurants / shops there. Boston is much smaller than you think, like said, newbury street (the end near urban outfitters / other side cafe is cheaper than the part near the public gardens). Also go to the public gardens and head into china town, always adventures there + great food / bakeries on the cheap.

Damn – Tour of the Bean would be a great ride for next week.
Unfortunately I’ll have started my month at sea. We’ll hopefully be in port in Halifax by then.
I would totally loan out the Moby for a brave rider. Tuned it real good yesterday. Dropped the jet size by 3, raised the needle. It fucking blasts hard now. Don’t need the two belt system anymore.
I’d love to ride tomorrow, if today ends up being a wash, but I might have a ton of stuff happening getting ready for the trip.
Susan – you forgot Fanueil Hall!! Get stuffed and go to the Greenway down by the Aquarium. Also another chance to feel poor even if you’re not…...

Where do you guys meet for the weekly rides?
Moving into my apartment by fenway this weekend, should have my bat up and running by the ride time. I’m also in process of recruiting a couple friends. I am unable to wait.

yeah, tons of good tattoo places in boston. many people i know like fat rams, in jp (a neighborhood in boston), and regeneration, in allston (another neighborhood in boston and right near the kHz garage).

Man, Massachusetts is blowing up this time of year…
I’m also planning a trip up there from RVA to hit up some family in Lenox and then visit a friend in Brewster. I would love to stop in Boston on a Wednesday on the way to the Cape.
No loaner needed – I’m bringing mine north. Moped tour in the Berkshires = sweet! Also, mopeds in the Berkshires = need to regear like woah…

julian did a huge case match and has a crazy variator, which is why his parma bike is so fast. i am doing the exact same build right now, minus the variator. which i will have soon enough. also, as its now only been 40 days since i ordered my CDI, i am confident it will be arriving soon.

the mac and cheese pie at faneuil hall is actually amazing, and the greenhouse sells air ferns, but quincy market lacks. the old state house is neat, and if you like maps there is a super nice hotel there that has a huge collection of original old maps of boston when it was a tiny swampy pit in the 1700s that you can go upstairs and see. they let you in and show you to the map room even if you look kind of like a bum.
also there’s a gym with all glass windows that says “judgment free zone” which is pretty hilarious given the context because i make sure to judge EXTRA every time i walk by.
if you don’t have the money or desire to watch a full red sox game the bleacher bar is decent, you can see the game, get your drink on, and then leave.
i don’t drink but people i’ve dated have always said good things about jillian’s and game on, and miracle of science.
as for walking the whole city in a day, maybe if you are a wild hare or perhaps some kind of antelope but for regular people i think you would probably want to die if you tried to do that. i suppose if you t’d it to hotspots and just did downtown, some of allston, a little bit of the camb/somerville, fenway because i’m biased and you should probably do the north end/southie just because (see corey if you would like to hear someone wax poetic on southie) then maybe you could squeeze it all in in a day but i would not recommend one day because the true essence of boston is trudging around in bad weather with hostile bloodthirsty drivers for a few days and seeing all the annoyed, embittered, and closed-off faces of the non-tourist pedestrians around you.

bukowski’s in inman sq, cambridge is amazing for drinks too with good music. i too love sunset grille, but not the usual 45 min. wait it takes to get in, so we usually do up the sunset cantina down the street for the same food, drink, and vibe-minus the wait.
