The Civil War

I was just thinking about how different life would be if the south had won the Civil War…
Obviously you’d be a jackass to believe that we’d all have slaves or that we would have planted a Confederate flag on the moon.
What I am talking about is states’ rights. We would have never gone to the moon because we wouldn’t be a single superpower, we’d be a loose confederation of sovereign states not unlike modern-day Europe.
What’s more, rule out any “butterfly effect” type stuff and fast forward to the 1940’s: Hitler’s Third Reich would have won WWII without the opposition of the United States.
Again, you’d be retarded if you think that today we’d all be speaking German and killing Gypsies and homosexuals. A modern Nazi superpower would no doubt be as humiliated by their actions fifty years ago as any German you might meet today. Cooler heads would have eventually prevailed and a civil rights movement not unlike our own would have emerged.
But… the dominant force on the planet would have been a socialist political system, and the Middle East would look drastically different than it does today. Israel might have even wiped Palestine off the map, and become a superpower in their own right. Weird to think about.
