you have two options:

1. drop out of school, ride your moped to san fran and start over. new life, new name, maybe even some plastic surgery. i would suggest calling yourself something like wombat or the cheetah. something tough like that with an animal name. that’s aways cool.

or

2. realize that your parents are concerned (and rightfully so) and work with them.

just buy it, be safe and before you know it they wont think twice about you riding it to school. parents are funny that way, they may seem harsh and uncompromising when it comes to things like this, but they really are just afraid that you might get hurt.
