Re: ball peen hamer repair

Never hit a shaft end with a hammer. It is impossible to control where it hits and at what angle. If you do not have the proper tool, back the nut off until it is flush with the end of the shaft, place a piece of steel against the shaft and nut, and hit the steel with the hammer.

This way you will get a square hit and you will not screw up the threads.
