Tomos speedo accuracy

I changed the speedo drive and cable on my 91 a35 and just got back from doing a plug chop and was impressed that my speedo’s needle was pegged out at top speed. How accurate are those things? I’m not interested in buying a GPS (not that I wouldn’t like one) to confirm my speed trials, I’ll leave that to the speedo, but I was wondering what kind of tolerance these things have. +/- 5mph?

also, once I did get up to speed at WOT the engine began 4 stroking, but my chop came back light tan. I have a Biturbo and a stock carb 14/12 SHA with stock #51 jet and a stock air box with the kitchen oven screen, although I did install the offset intake and moved the carb to the outside.

Any suggestions? Recommendations?

Thanks

Russ
