Question about JB weld

Hi guys, need to use JB weld for something but don’t know if it will be strong enough since I’ve never used it. I have a tomos targa lx and when I bought it the guy told me it needed a new throttle cable, so i got the cable, and then realized the set screw that holds the cable in place (in the throttle assembly) was gone and the piece that the screw goes into (the metal part that slides) was all messed up and couldn’t really hold a new screw.

So I thought maybe I could just use some JB weld on the cable in the metal sliding part of the throttle assembly to hold it in place. Does anyone know if this will be strong enough to hold a cable under tension?

I can’t actually weld the area since it will fry the cable, and I don’t care to buy and install a new throttle assembly. Thanks a bunch
