Re: Tough Locks

This isn’t a lock. It’s a die used for cold drawing steel tubing. It has carbide steel center surrounded by a mild steel case. The carbide center is so hard you need a diamond tool to grind or cut it and it take a long time to do that. The carbide center is so hard that it will shatter it hit . The mild steel case surrounds and supports it from shattering when steel is drawn through it.The casing is heated red hot and the carbide center is dropped in and the case cools and shrinks around it holding it tightly in place. If the company that makes these die’s could make a small lock similar to this a thief would give up trying get past it .A band saw won’t cut it. bolt cutters won’t get around it a hammer wont break it.The die’s this size are $500.00 though.
