Mounting Simonini

Ok got the pipe of my dreams but I have to modify it to make it work. Mounting a Simonini to a Metra 80, either i cut the flange so that the bolt holes are open at the ends, not closed for strength of I cut the cooling fins of the cylinder to make room for the flange.
Its a predicament. I can’t decide to go for it and if I do which method should I do. I need comments and opinions and why? Thanks in advance. Pic of bike included.
