The state seems to only have laws against institutional vandalism So as long as it’s not a state-owned building, you’re okay on the state level.
KC Law:
(f) Upon conviction of violation of this section, punishment shall be imposed by a fine of not less than $500.00 nor more than $1,000.00, or imprisonment for not more than 120 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment; provided further, the sentencing court may suspend imposition of judgment or sentence upon parole for the successful performance of supervised community public service of not less than 90 hours.
How old is your son? If he is a minor, and is convicted for this, you are responsible for him not doing it again so long as he is a minor and you are responsible for him. That means, if he pays the fine, does it again in two weeks, and is still under 18 then you and him get charged with crime, and face the above penalties.
