bags and bars.

so on my maxi i bought saddle bags for the back… except i think they were made for a motobecane. anyway, they have 3 points of connection on the back; two on top for a luggage rack and 1 on bottom for some kind of bar across the wheel.
problem, as most know, is maxis have no bottom bar. except the maxi sport. would a luggage rack from a sport fit onto my maxi? also can anyone think of alternatives?
