Linda, I think the point is that Aqua could easily go online and find out the law with a quick google search (or even by going to the moped wiki). Doing that would keep her under the radar of the fuzz, save her a trip, and still accomplish her goal of gaining moped law knowledge.

I’ve lived in NY, and in MO. I’m only 24, and I’ve seen enough messed up cop things first hand to make me wary of them. That’s not to mention what my friends have seen/experienced. And both my parents work for the NY state police (as civilians, not as cops), and most of the people that are troopers are complete dicks who thrive and fucking with people. It’s not a far reach in my mind for them to do something really fucked up if someone called them out for their antics and/or insulted them.

I just think as a general rule it’s best to avoid any unwarranted attention from the police.
