Wow – this thread is awesome. Didn’t know so many diesel enthusiasts were out there.
So…here’s the deal.
There was a SHIT LOAD of air in the system. With my friend cranking it, it pushed nothing but air out the bleed valve for a few seconds, then started jizzing fuel and air…then finally fuel. It still needed a good 20 second continual crank to start it, but it went (thank god…) and idled nice a smooth. No problem.
I haven’t checked the plugs, but man….I mean, how bad can they be? Sure a new plug can be faulty, but….the best diesel repair shop here put in the whole relay system with the new plugs only 900 miles ago. I drive this thing maybe once every two weeks.
The shop has it back now since I don’t know where to begin with it. The other main problem is finding those freakin’ small line clamps. I’ve been to every auto parts store in San Jose and no one has them for 3/16” line. Unreal. They’ll sell you the 3/16” line, but not the clamps! WTF? I was told that you basically have to order them from Ford.
Oh…..the Ford diesel’s are not shit. In fact, this 6.9L was one of the best ever built for a pickup. In fact, Ford has never made their engines at all…until recently with their new 6.0. The 7.3 Powerstroke is legendary, however. With the turbo and upgrade chip, it is literally one of the best diesel engines ever made. I wish they still made them. The new ones are SHIT, apparently. Go figure.
And yeah…....DON’T EVER use starter fluid in a diesel, unless you like buying new engines….......
Thanks, everyone. Hope Bay City Diesel works this out.
