I just bought a ‘69 Puch Maxisport about a month ago and was wondering whether it needed to be tagged. I called the DMV and when I told them it was 49cc the person on the phone said “no”. However, I have seen 2 since then that have had license plates on the back. I couldn’t get up close enough to see if they were current and real or not, but I don’t want to get a ticket for this. I know they can be ridden in the bike lanes here in Austin, so I would normally say no. Can anyone clear this up for me. Thanks!
