I too must sing the praises of my solex, one tends to forget they take gas. Mine has been more reliable than my Honda and it’s a 1975. You should be able to pick up a used one for under $200. They also pedal better than most mopeds. The only downside at all other than speed is that on extremely rough roads the engine can bounce a lot causing it to become disengaged. I live in an are with poorly maintained dirt roads though.
