you say you have a MIG, but you don’t say what type (flux core-inner shield, or gas-shielded)
If its a gas-shielded I would do it!
If its inner-shielded you could take the old die grinder to it afterward.
if its inner-shielded I would do what my old land-lord would do, put tape on the hole and paint over it!
