weird exhaust question

so I took off the baffle on my stock maxi to clean it and decided to 1/6 of it off. It looks like three spheres connected and I cut the last one in half. Now I cant find the nut to keep my baffle in place.

My questions are:

!. is there any drawback to riding with no baffle

2. what happens when I control the back pressure by covering the end of the pipe with my foot.

3. if that has any effect, do I want to cover it up more at low speeds or high speed?

Just a couple of general questions, if someone can offer any other advice, that would be helpful.
