I agree with everything JJW just wrote, I just bought a Honda ch-80 scooter to go places my mopeds can’t it is vintage and reliable…but I love my mopeds and will continue to use them, this scoot just has a higher top speed for some of the places I want to go, I don’t “kit” peds, (no offence to those who do) because imo it puts undue stress on the rest of the bike. Be advised though anything over 49cc will in most states be required to be registered as a motorcycle which means you need to get an endorsement on your liscence to ride it. This is very easy to do especially on an automatic scooter. But if you live in a state where mopeds don’t have to be liscenced or insured this may give you something to consider. As for brands it is hard to say…my “vintage” Hobbit is dead reliable, but I did have to do some work to get it that way. I personally dislike the looks of Tomos peds, but they are new and reliable. Do ditch the oil injection though. Another option is the Kenitic, an Indian import…butt ugly but reliable and can be drop shipped to your door for like $800.00 form Northern hydraulics catalog. Best of luck in your choice…whatever you buy have a great time riding!
