I have a1981 C70, and it runs like a tank. That honda 4-stroke semi-automatic engine is hard to kill.
There’s a yahoo group that has a ton of information, owner’s manuals and all sorts of cool shit. I suggest joining it. They know a ton about C70 Passports.
Yes, the lights are dead because it was run without a battery. The headlight is apparently sort of expensive ($10?) so they suggest not running a C70 without a battery. Mine doesn’t have a battery, though, and my headlight still works, so who knows.
You can probably get legshields cheap off ebay if you want them, or really any part. C70s are hugely popular worldwide.
I think the guy wants a little much for it. C70s in pristine condition run around $800. I got mine, and it is damn near immaculate, for $500, but the dude was selling it in winter, and there’s no title (which will probably bite me in the ass when I try to register it with VA DMV).
I’d ask him if he’d take $300, $350. If not, and it runs, I dunno, $400’s not so bad. Another hundred bucks and you could make it pristine, I reckon.
