i daresay, the real thing ^^

the thing about trying to make something that looks old is, well, some people have SEEN things that actually ARE old, already – and know what they look like.

“awesome” is cruising the photos section of this website and seeing the evolution of the motobecane from a lugged, tube framed bicycle up through the stamped steel beast that I own and eventually the demise of the brand.

it’s like fake wood panelling on those 1970s station wagons and the new PT cruisers trying to be ‘woodies’ for people who’ve never seen a wood bodied car.

i once saw a kid who’d scrawled on a white t-shirt in black permanent marker these words:

burn fake vintage

...

we are living in the age of authenticity. if you’re pleasure is to be in the fashionable, do something well – fully and intelligently – authentically – that matters and has meaning.

Peter did you do any drawings for that wood-framed bike?
