Take the 5 slot head screws out BEFORE you take the big long screw out of the top. The gasket usually sticks to the engine case without ripping so that’ll be OK

THEN after the hex-shaped cover is off proceed to swap your cable, watch the spring doesn’t go flying,

after you get the cable on don’t forget to cock the tail of the spring back behind the case wall

FYI that new cable you got MAY be too thin in the little short sleeve and what’ll happen is tranny fluid will get out through there
