I love my TFR but it does have some issues stock. The clutch wears out pretty rqapidly, I have a 96 w/ 1500mi on it and the clutch was totally burned. Also the seal in my gearbox was blown and leaking. I got mine after the pedals had fallen off but what im seeing online is that they come off after the first few hundred miles but thats a cheap and easy fix. The bike looks good and is very comfortable. It accepts modifications and repairs easily but its tricky to get the motor out to work on. All in all I like the moped alot. My friend has a tomos sprint and its fun but I dont fit it as comfortably. On the TFR acceleration and proformence dramatically improved with the variator mod, and the headkits and carbs are relatively easy to install. I happily paid 200 for mine but dont think I would caugh up 900 for one. if thats the price range youre working in then Id say go for the tomos, especially if you intend to run it stock. Beware though, get a CDI ignition Tomos instead of the points model. setting the points on my friends tomos is a bitch and the CDI upgrade is about $170 stock tomos is better for the price, but if you get a chance to sit down and ride a stock one of each I would do that before commiting to either one.
