Upon getting up from the pavement, Dave notices that sharp but familiar pain in his left hip.
“Ewwoow,” he even says. The with a grunt he pulls himself up to look around. He doesn’t feel like dusting off the dirt and other foreign matter from his left sleeve, because instead, he slides his hand down his cheek. There’s a peculiar wet feel, as if someone water-balooned his sorry soul.
Dave remembers this night all too well and is in thought amongst its realm of files from the past. He’s glad to be not rubbing blood from the side of his face this evening. No, wrecking is a thing Dave quit doing. He decided that it wasn’t as fun as it might have once been.
Riding over the hose that somebody neglected to collect back up, DeeZy recognizes the capability of his wondering mind. He knows he can think about almost anything. So on a whim, Dave decides to think about a statue in the park coming to life and chasing after him. Now, riding by the park, there’s a strict speed limit of 10 miles an hour.
Dave knows that he’s trying harder these days to adhere to that sign. In all the imagining, he gives a little extra throttle. “Is she gonna catch me?”
The statue is made of bronze, and makes hideous creaking noise. Dave woulda never known that bronze in a full running sprint would cry out like that.
He had to slow down, and see if it was real. Sure as the sky is above us, the bronze statue stood there. Never moved at all.
A slight chill crept into the elbows of Daves tense arms. “I will see YOU another day!” he snaps as he rides away from the brown woman. She laughs at him, and waters a patch of flowers, as he totally thought he imagined the whole thing.
Just about total darkness fell as DeeZy pulls into the home on Valley View. He says to himself, as he walks to the door. “I’m starting to like my moped, I guess I won’t name her after all.”
