There are quite a few changes between the “USA” and what I call the older style TFR (Anything pre ‘03) the most noticeable changes are to the Muffler and the Clutch, the carb was changed as well as the air box.

1) the USA has a Larger “Round” Muffler, where as the Older Style has a Squared somewhat flattened muffler. The newer Mufflers I am told have a Cat Con and the older do not. I have asked about getting the older style mufflers after 2006, and have not gotten confirmation as to weither I will be able to or not.

2) the Clutches on the Older Style are smaller and wear a lot faster than the “USA” the “USA’s” Clutch is approx 4” OD with heavier pads inside.

the both are reliable little peds, and as I said before they are worth the price if you are looking for something that will get you from point A to point B, if you want flash, and bells and whistles then the more expensive name brands are for you.

I wouldn’t pay much more than $350 $400 for an older one unless it was garage kept and all of the fuel was removed. If you look at our web site the pries for are back to what they used to be for the TFR’s the “special” price was only a short time for M.A. members and friends.

Also Nick I have 95% of the parts needed for the Older Style and can get the rest in about a 3 month turn around.
