Come out and celebrate our 10th Moped BBQ in Kalamazoo. You can expect this year’s event to be bigger and better than ever. Festivities will take place at 1977 Mopeds, 569 Portage St., Kalamazoo, MI. You might want to check out photos from previous BBQs if you haven’t been to one before.
We’re happy to announce a new feature this year — the custom moped contest. Anyone can enter and a winner will be chosen by BBQ attendees. It’s time to show off all your moped.
We’ll also be holding a raffle with various prizes, including a Garelli Sport. The moped has been generously donated by Pete Prowant and tuned up by 1977 Mopeds.
Monday, May 31st
- 11 a.m.
- Those who are participating in the custom moped contest should be registering their bikes and putting them into position.
- Noon–2 p.m.
- Registration of your moped for the custom moped contest is closed, voting on the bikes begins. Voting will only happen during these two hours, so if you want to cast a vote, be sure to do so during this time.
- Noon–5 p.m.
- The official event. There will be tons of mopeds and people hanging out at 1977 Mopeds. Grilling and eating will also begin at noon. Please remember that this BBQ is a potluck, so bring food/drinks to share with everyone. Come early enough to vote on the custom bikes and stay around all afternoon. Small rides will be happening throughout the day.
- 5 p.m.
- The moped street race. This year’s format will be slightly different from in the past. If you plan on participating please show up early enough to be briefed on the rules and locations. Helmets are required to race.
- Post Race
- Passing of the race trophy’s to the winners, announcement of custom moped contest winners, raffle winners drawn.
